Belén Maya at Nîmes Flamenco festival 2009
For 19 years, the festival in Nîmes has been an unmissable highlight in the world of flamenco. In this clip we see the great dancer Belén Maya performing in the last piece choreographed by her father Mario Maya, who died in September 2008. She is accompanied by the legendary Merche Esmeralda and Rocio Molina, who embodies the future of female flamenco dance. The joint performance by these three exceptional artists demonstrates the dynamism inherent in flamenco and its deep capacity for reinvention.
